Global: Bad Politics
The roaring recovery in global ECM volumes in the first half of 2024 stalled a little in 3Q, as political turmoil and rising volatility caused several issuers to hold back from coming to market with new deals.
Global ECM volumes in 3Q24 were around USD 160bn, according to Dealogic data, slightly above 3Q23, which, on the surface, looks par for the course, but marks a significant slowdown in what had been a year of recovery, given the significant uptick in volumes Y-O-Y in 1H24.
