With a little more than 8 months until MiFID II is implemented, our Head of Consumption, William Anderson, looks at the impact of this regulation on buyside firms – specifically on expectations around the budgeting process. There will be a massive change in how the buyside has historically operated, and firms will not only need to set a definitive research budget, but will need to determine and justify commission payments based on the quality of all their interactions and the research consumed.
